  • Our feline family. Three clever cats now call our abode their home. All related but with distinctively different personalities. Caught posing pretty for the camera in recognition of #internationalcatday #orientalshorthair #orientalshorthairofinstagram #catsofinstagram
  • My mum turned 90 today and while our birthday celebration plans were disrupted by Covid cases at the retirement home, we were still able to gather safely, masked outside. Three generations captured here. As my mother says, she comes from a long line of strong women. Happy Birthday Barbara, we love you! #happybirthday #momsbirthday #mothersanddaughters #90yearsold
  • This photo epitomizes mothering day to me. The young woman I birthed, reflecting on her image in the mirror and through the camera lens, as I in turn photograph her. Years pass in the click of a shutter. Thanks for making me your mum Celeste Alice. Today is a celebration of mothers but I wish to acknowledge all the others who have supported and encouraged me on my journey as a sole support parent. They see us, and love us, I’m grateful. #mothersday #mothers #gratitude #mothersanddaughters #friends #dianenasroyoung #kayooyoung
  • This bibliophile smiles at the serendipity in posting this on Canadian Independent Book store day. My favourite book store, in one of my favourite communities for exploring on a Saturday road trip, where I’m showing off the cover of the newest, and aptly titled @sophieblackall book #thingstolookforwardto It’s all just perfect! #canadianindependentbookstoreday #curiousityhousebooks #bookstore #Creemore #Saturday #shoplocal #booklover #bibliophile
  • I’ve been craving buttertarts to such a degree that tonight I tried baking a batch. But here’s the rub, I’m not a pastry maker. No tarts or pies successfully baked in my kitchen. Not self criticism, just fact. I cook, bake cookies and loaves but when it comes to pastry, total fail. Some say it’s the recipe, the temperature of ingredients, my nana said a good pastry chef required cold hands. I used the famous family recipes for both pastry and filling, gently placed them in my mothers favourite cast iron tart pan. But… Second picture is end result. Eating
  • If I could package snowflakes, on a crisp winter night when wood fire warms the air. I’d gift you images of Christmas past, when cheeks grew apples, noses drip as boots crunch bringing home a tree, steps to the door of warmth and cookies. Memories of other feasts. In 2021 safety keeps us as two to the table. Serving gratitude helps. #merrychristmas #christmas #christmas2021 #gratitudepost #motherdaughter #gratitude #wordplay #covidchristmas
  • Victor Norman Lyon, my great grandfather, was a bicycle messenger in WW1. A teen, riding to the front lines delivering messages amidst the carnage, I can’t fathom this. Returning home to create a life that begat my grandfather, in turn my mother, then me. I have few memories of him as I was a mere toddler, having learnt to walk on his street. This photo, his swagger stick, medals and the oft told story of him riding a bicycle at the front, haunts me. This is family history. I share his story. I will always remember. #remembranceday #familyhistory
  • From garden to oven. The last tomatoes, blistered to perfection with garlic, thyme and shallots will be puréed with milk and a dash of cream tomorrow, transformed into a delicious soup. I love soup season! #soupseason #tomatosoup #soup #organic #homecooking #usewhatyouhave #growyourownfood #endfoodwaste
